The locations for Cricket Australia’s next five-match Test series against India have been revealed. Optus Stadium in Perth will play home to the first Test, which is slated to take place in November. Cricket Australia and Western Australia are determined to increase the number of spectators at Perth’s stadium, even if the match against Pakistan ended with a poor attendance.

Increasing Test cricket’s popularity in Perth is a top priority for the governing body, according to sources familiar with the situation who spoke on the condition of anonymity since the schedule hasn’t been formally released yet. Although attendance at Perth Stadium, which has 60,000 seats, was low during the previous Test season, it was usually higher for Perth Scorchers BBL games.

The stadium has had a wide range of attendance over previous events; 28,494 people attended a Big Bash League game featuring the Perth Scorchers, the most crowd. On the other hand, just 17,666 spectators attended the Test series against Pakistan, which had the lowest attendance.

Perth’s Test attendance numbers are anticipated to increase as a result of England and India’s scheduled visits to Australia within the next two years.

The sources went on to say that the day-night Test in Adelaide and the series opener in Perth, which has a three-hour time difference, would provide cricket a prime-time lead-up to the Big Bash on Channel Seven and Fox. It is possible that the Twenty20 tournament will go on unbroken from the middle of December until the end of January.

Adelaide Oval will host the second Test match of the series, while The Gabba in Brisbane will play home to the third Test match. Sydney Cricket Ground will host the last game of the series, while the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground will host the Boxing Day Test.

The schedule for the next season has not yet been released by Cricket Australia; an announcement is anticipated by the end of the month. But the Men’s and Women’s Big Bash League’s next season’s full information have been revealed by the board.

A representative for Cricket Australia said, as cited by The Sydney Morning Herald, “The schedule is yet to be finalized.”
