Firmino was taking pictures with the assembled crowd of supporters when the incident happened as he stepped out of his vehicle. He quickly vanished amid them, however.

After eight years at Anfield, where he won the Premier League and the Champions League, Firmino is the most recent celebrity to join Saudi Arabia’s lucrative Pro League.

Firmino made the announcement that he has joined Al-Ahli in a video that the team broadcast on Twitter. “I always played for big teams, now I am in Al-Ahli,” he said.

Edouard Mendy, the custodian for Chelsea, has already joined Al-Ahli, a club with a headquarters in Jeddah.

Other Saudi Pro League clubs have signed high-profile players including Marcelo Brozovic, Kalidou Koulibaly, N’Golo Kante, and Karim Benzema. The movement was begun by Cristiano Ronaldo when he signed with Al-Nassr in January.

With Liverpool, Firmino has won the English League Cup, FA Cup, Premier League, and Champions League. The Club World Cup and European Super Cup are additional trophies.
