Chrisann Pereira, a Mumbai actress who was detained in a narcotics case then freed from UAE

Actress Chrisann Pereira, who was detained in the UAE on suspicion of cocaine possession and was being held at a prison in Sharjah, has been freed, according to a top Mumbai Police officer on Thursday.
The Mumbai-born actress, 27, was reportedly duped by two guys who promised her a part in a Hollywood web series while drugging her and transporting her to Sharjah under the guise of a “audition.”
Pereira, who played the lead role in the Mahesh Bhatt-directed Hindi film Sadak 2, was detained on April 1 at the Sharjah airport when a little amount of a substance was discovered hidden in a souvenir that one of the accused had given Pereira so she could deliver it to someone in the UAE.
The official said that after her detention, the accused—Ravi Bobhate and Anthony Paul—asked her mother for Rs 80 lakh in exchange for her release.
The Mumbai Police were subsequently contacted by the actor's mother, who reported the couple for adultery, leading to their arrest.
According to him, Chrisann Pereira was freed Wednesday night after the appropriate authorities reviewed the case-related papers that the Mumbai Police had sent to them.
under this regard, he added, official dialogue with the Ministry of External Affairs was under progress.
The official predicted that Pereira will return to Mumbai in a day or two.
