India's rooftop solar subsidy scheme, PM Surya Ghar, has brought a rush of new customers to solar installers almost overnight. Companies that used to sell solar one customer at a time are now getting flooded with leads, and each one needs a quotation, a project tracker, and paperwork for a multi stage subsidy application. Many solar and EPC businesses in India are still running all of this on google sheet, excel and phone calls, when a system like ERPNext can handle it directly. The scheme is part of a larger push, supporting India in becoming energy independent by 2047.
Sree Arka Greentech, a solar panel manufacturer and installer based in Andhra Pradesh, ran into exactly this. The company operates a 30MWp manufacturing facility and, at the time, was managing operations across seven branch locations in three districts. It had already completed over 1,200 solar installations across 108 plus villages, worth more than ₹22 crore real scale, run largely on manual processes. Leads came in through calls and field visits with no central record. Every quotation was built by hand, taking one to two days, and small data entry slips, like a mistyped system capacity, could throw off an entire price. Channel partners worked without documented regions, pricing bands, or commission structures. And PM Surya Ghar subsidy applications, which move through multiple approval stages including bank loan sign off, were tracked separately for every customer with no consolidated view.
Sree Arka brought in Girman Technologies, a certified Frappe & ERPNext implementation partner, to rebuild its operations on a single platform. In roughly 75 hours over ten days, the team implemented ERPNext's CRM and Selling modules alongside two custom builds: a Channel Partner Management system with region mapping and commission and pricing validation, and a PM Surya Ghar Subsidy Tracking module that follows every application from documentation through bank approval to payout, generating government format paperwork along the way. Quotation data now flows automatically into subsidy records, removing a layer of duplicate entry that used to eat up staff time.
The impact showed up fast. Manual effort across the business dropped by roughly 70%. Quotations that took one to two days now take minutes. A single pipeline snapshot showed 243 leads sitting at the "ready for quotation" stage, visibility the company never had when tracking lived in someone's notebook or a branch specific spreadsheet. "With ERPNext implemented by Girman Technologies, we now manage CRM, sales, projects, inventory, and finance" from one integrated platform, said Goutham Machina, General Manager at Sree Arka Greentech, noting that decisions across branches now move faster because the data does too.
Girman Technologies is a Bangalore based Frappe & ERPNext implementation partner built for exactly this kind of problem: replacing spreadsheets and disconnected tools with one centralised, open source ERP shaped around a specific industry's workflow, in this case a government subsidy process most off the shelf software was never built to handle.
The founding team brings 26 plus years of combined IT experience from Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks, and Khatabook, with degrees from IIT and VIT. Co-founder Girish Budhwani has over 13 years in the industry, including time at Microsoft working on Dynamics 365 and at Khatabook, where he built software for small and mid sized businesses; he holds a computer science degree from IIT Jodhpur. Co-founder Manish Dipankar also brings over 13 years of experience, having helped scale Palo Alto Networks, and holds a computer science degree from VIT. That mix of enterprise software depth and hands on SME product experience shows up directly in how Girman approaches implementations: not a generic ERP rollout, but a system built around the specific paperwork, approval chains, and pricing logic a business actually runs on.
For solar and EPC companies riding the same PM Surya Ghar wave, the lesson from Sree Arka isn't really about software. It's that the operational bottleneck quotations, subsidy tracking, partner commissions becomes the ceiling on growth long before demand does. Fixing it took ten days, not a year long IT project.
